Michiru happens to be my favorite character of the Sailor Moon Series. She is mature, intellegent, talented, and sensible. On this page I will present an indepth look at Michiru's role during the Super and Stars series of Sailor Moon.

Sailor Moon Super

Here we meet Michiru for the very first time in episode 92. Aino Minako has just finished playing a racing game with Tenno Haruka, whom she and Tsukino Usagi think is a man, when Michiru shows up to collect her friend. The pair bids farewell to the girls, who then spend the episode trying to figure out if Haruka and Michiru are a couple. In the end, Haruka reveals she is in fact a woman. Although nothing is said about Michiru's relationship with Haruka, by this time, one might already guess that the two may be intimate.

Michiru attends tenth grade (or first year high school) at Mugen Gakuen, a school comprised of all grades and intended for gifted students. Michiru plays the violin, paints, and swims, all of which she does exceptionally well.

Michiru's first impressions of Usagi is that she is just a cute kid. She plays the older friend role, trying to help Usagi become more mature, as unlikely as the event is. As a gesture of friendship, Michiru gives Usagi a pair of symphony tickets for Usagi and Chiba Mamoru, Usagi's destined boyfriend. At this point Usagi obviously idolizes Michiru, calling her "the ideal princess." Usagi tells Michiru that she wants to be just like her, even to the extent of pulling out Michiru's violin and attempting to play, much to the dismay of those in earshot.

Michiru herself comes across as mature, sensible, and patient. She seems to truely think about her words and actions, instead of spontaniously rushing into a situation. She is incredibly flirty, but surprisingly she is said to be somewhat of a loner. She often teases Haruka about jealousy and plays with her partner in subtle but harmless ways.

Michiru also develops a relationship with Mizuno Ami while at the sports center swimming pool. Michiru challeges Ami to a race, which ends in a tie. Michiru accuses Ami of holding back and forcing a tie, claiming the girl is non-confrontational. She later challeges Ami to a rematch, and Ami accepts, vowing to herself that this time she won't hold back. Both girls push themselves to the limit and once again the match ends in a tie.

Throughout the episodes, we see that Michiru and Haruka become fond of the younger inner senshi, at least in their normal everyday form. The inners look up to Michiru and Haruka, often calling them "cool" and trying to spend time with them.

This relationship changes when Michiru and Haruka discover that their younger friends are really the Bishoujo Sailor Senshi Team. Michiru and Haruka feel the inner senshi interfere with their mission. Thus the friendships formed prior to the knowledge of identities are suddenly abolished - at least on Michiru and Haruka's end.

At this point we see Michiru either in her senshi form fighting or with Haruka and Setsuna discussing their mission. At the end of the series Michiru and Haruka, once their mission is complete, leave the city together.

Sailor Moon Stars

After disappearing for most all of the SuperS season where Michiru makes an appearance in the SuperS special and, in senshi form, in the SuperS movie, she returns for the first episode of Stars, number 167. Michiru and Haruka visit the aquarium, and upon leaving are attacked by mirror images of Nehelenia, the main villian from SuperS. Thus begins their second mission.

Michiru and Haruka are not featured much in stars after the six episode mini-series in which the senshi fight, defeat, and cleanse Nehelenia. In the episodes in which they do appear, Michiru often flirts with Kou Seiya, lead singer of the group The Three Lights, much to Haruka's dismay. After the Starlight's identity is revealed, however, the pair usually shows up to order Usagi that she is not to see Seiya any longer, since he is from outside the solar system.
