Michiru and Haruka have one the most beautiful relationships in Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. The love the two women share is deep and moving, possibly even greater than their love for their princess. This page will feature moments shared between the two women, in both civilian and senshi forms.
Episode 92 is the first episode in which Haruka and Michiru appear. Minako and Usagi think that Haruka is male, and spend the episode questioning whether or not Michiru is his girlfriend. Although we later discover that Haruka is female, this episode is the first indication that a relationship exists between the two.
We often see Michiru and Haruka together. They usually don't outwardly act like a couple, but their concern for each other and the joy they receive from spending time with each other is apparent.
At first the deepness of the relationship can be questioned when Kalonite send Sailor Neptune over a cliff to her apparent death. Althought Sailor Moon insists that they save Neptune, Uranus pulls her away, telling the younger senshi that the mission is more important than their lives. Here we learn that Neptune and Uranus have made an agreement that they won't try and save one another because such behavior might jeopardize their mission.
This pact is shattered later on in episode 110. Even though the two senshi reaffirm their pact prior to entering the cathedral to face Eudial, Neptune breaks the pact and saves Uranus from a flying wall. Neptune is whisked away and Uranus is horrified that her love is captured. Later in the same episode, Uranus rushes to save Neptune and is shot by cannons protecting the bridge separating the two. Only moments later, Neptune crosses the same bridge when Uranus's life is in danger. Even though she has been shot, she still attempts to reach Uranus, and consiquently is shot again. Finally, the guns are out of bullets, and Neptune, near death, pulls herself up again to reach Uranus, only to be killed by Eudial.
Once this happens, Uranus flashes back to a previous scene in the episode during which she and Michiru clasp hands. In the scene Haruka is looking at her hands and thinking about how dirty they are because that day they will kill an innocent to take a talisman. Michiru walks up and tells Haruka that she likes her hands just the way they are. They then clasp hands showing a tender moment between the two.
Another indication in this same episode of the feelings that Michiru has for Haruka occurs just outside the cathedral right before the two reaffirm their pack. Neptune reaches over to take Uranus's hand. As their fingers touch, Uranus makes the statement about not saving each other no matter what happens, and Neptune lets go of Uranus's hand.
In the stars series there are quite a few places where Michiru and Haruka give us some indication of their relationship:
In episode 196, as the pair leave the shrine to find and fight Galaxia at Ginga TV, Michiru pauses and asks Haruka, "Is it ok not to say good-bye to her [Usagi]." Haruka replies, "It sounds like I might not be able to see her anymore." "You might not be able to." "That's alright," Haruka says as she puts her arm around Michiru, "because you're with me, right?" Michiru replies, "right." This small scene shows that the two are happy with each other's presence even if they will never see their princess again.
In episode 197, Neptune and Uranus exchange a few words that indicate their relationship. Uranus attacks Galaxia with her space sword, which Galaxia easily cracks, tossing Uranus back. Uranus says, "Damn, not even a scratch? I wonder if [the blade's] become dull." Neptune snidely says, "You're blaming your sword?" to which Uranus replies, "I don't think I've lost my edge." "Do you want to try it?" asks Neptune. Uranus replies, "Let's wait until we're alone." To me, this exchange is somewhat sexual in nature, suggesting a relationship in a physical sense.
In episode 198, in which Neptune and Uranus die, a moment of closeness is shared between the pair. As they fade away, Neptune says, "Haruka, I want to touch you." Even though the two are dying, and in pain, they struggle to reach out and touch each other one last time. Once this happy, Neptune smiles, and says she can see the light. Uranus says, "You're warm Michiru." Then they close their eyes and fade away.
