Michiru was born under the zodiac sign of Pisces. Typical traits of Pisces include being imaginative, sensitive, compassionate, kind. They tend to be selfless and unworldly, and are known for being intuitive and sympathetic. Many of these traits are reflected in Michiru, who is an artist, and therefore imaginative. She also holds the Aqua Mirror, a source of intuition, and has her own nature ability in the area. She is also quite compassionate, and her dedication to her princess and her mission shows her selflessness.

Pisces also have a few negative qualities. These include being an escapist, and seeming idealistic, secretive and vague. They are also weak-willed and easily led. Michiru can be secretive, especially in the way she and Haruka deal with the inner senshi. She often following Haruka's lead, however, she is anything but weak-willed, and that is one trait that definately does not fit her.

Pisces tend to be accepting of other people. Michiru, as Neptune, is much kinder and more accepting of the role of the inner senshi than her partner, Uranus, even if she too agrees they are a burden.

Picses often give more than they ask from their friends as well as their partners. They are sexually delicate, and most Pisceans would prefer a mental and spiritual relationship with their partner over a physical one. They are also intensely loyal and home-loving and will remain faithful. Michiru can easily be seen as a delicate person, and she is incredibly faithful to both Haruka and Usagi. Michiru gives herself often to save both, including episode 110 where she pushes Uranus out of the way of a flying wall and is hit herself and in the Nehelenia part of Stars where she, along with the other senshi, freely risk their lives for Usagi.

Pisces are also versatile, intuitive, have quick understanding, observe and listen well, and are receptive to new ideas and atmospheres. These qualities all combine to give Pisces exceptional creative talents in the areas of literature, music, and art. Michiru fits neatly into this discription as she is extremely talented in both painting as well as playing the violin. We get the impression that she is highly regarded for both talents, as her paintings were displayed in an art gallery and she plays a joint concert with the Three Lights and the Japanese Orchestra in stars.
