Content: 17/20 Good introduction to the site. I like that we're told
that this is a shrine to Neptune and it's mostly anime. This shrine is
definitely more than your basic shrines (you know, stats, five images,
and some links), but I think it also still needs more to grow on. What
content that is here is excellent from my knowledge of Michiru and the
series, but I think some additions would help making this a stronger
Michiru shrine. BTW, the analysis on mythology of the talismans, gods,
etc is written better than most I've seen. I didn't know any of the
mythology behind the talismans. The first section that needs more is
the gallery. It's pretty basic, and more additions would be nice to
see. The Multimedia section is a bit small also for having its own
area. If you don't foresee much more being added, maybe combine this
and the gallery into one section. However, some smaller items to add to
Multimedia that won't take up a lot of your space could be wallpapers or
AOL IM icons, just some small things to fill out that section.
Suggestions for additions to the site: a product guide (the DVDs,
books, etc) of what can be bought with Michiru, an analysis on her
gemstone (aquamarine) or her colors, mp3s of songs that aren't
Sailormoon but make you think Michiru when you here it. The content
here has some great potential to be a very good Michiru resource. This
isn't your basic stats site, that's for sure.
Correct Information: 10/10 Everything seemed correct on what knowledge I
have/can remember from viewing or reading about Michiru and these
particular seasons.
Design: 18/20 This is the first Neptune shrine I have seen with a dark
background, honestly. I like the simplicity of the site, and how the
navigation has been fit to contour the image of Michiru. A suggestion
for the sub-sub pages (i.e. The "Sailor Neptune S" section) would be to
make a text graphic title for it in a similar style as the "Tsunami of
Sound" title that is on all of the more main navigation pages. My
reasoning for that is because the text in all of the other pages is
margined a few inches down the site due to these titles. Then on the
sub pages it will jump to the top. Besides, a graphic at the top will
make it look less simple, and it will be a more clear title to where you
are at. I also suggest making the division titles in these sections
bold. Another suggestion in the stats/episodes section is to play with
the border colors in the tables. The white border overwhelms the color
of the text. Everything is so clean looking in all of the sections;
this is great and easy to follow. Just to add something to each
section, maybe a tiny image aligned to the left or right in the
narrations (a screen to go along with the story) would just add a little
bit more imagery. I wouldn't add to many or it would ruin the great
simplicity of the site. I'm not sure if it's a design flaw, but on the
"Galleries" and the "Multimedia" section the title graphic disappears.
A lot of the thumbnails are skewed/squished to make them all the same
size. The conformity is nice, but some of the images just look a little
funny because of it. Overall, I like this design. Don't change it too
much. The structure and simplicity keeps my eye to what's important -
the content. Not to mention, it keeps my praise.
Navigation: 4/5 Site Maps! Everybody should have one. There were back
buttons on every page. My one suggestion for navigation is that where
you have it linked to go to the next section, mark it "Next" and put a
link to the previous section as well. When I first got into the "Kaiou
Michiru" section, I hadn't read all the other links so I had to step
back a moment and realize that I had went to the next section. Another
suggestion for the navigation is to put the text links also in your main
introduction page incase something happens to your navigation frame.
That way there will still be a way to navigate around. Otherwise, it
was clearly marked and easy to navigate.
Loading Time: 5/5 Very quick for me. The fact that the same images are
used repeatedly kept it loading quickly. I like that in a site.
Working Links/Images: 5/5 All of the links & images worked for me that
I have checked.
Originality: 8/10 After seeing so many basic shrines, this is a warm
welcome. The character section goes into a lot of description, and
there is a lot of analysis or information on different aspects about the
character: mythology, blood type, and so on. However, I have seen all
of these things on other really good shrines as well. As excellent of a
resource I feel this is, it needs a few more original sections to push
it out further from the crowd. Maybe attack analysis (how damaging is
she?), personality analysis (what would Michiru do in these particular
situations?), and some other things to offset it from the rest.
Enjoyment Value: 5/5 Do I often look for Michiru sites? No, not
really, but would I return to this site? Yes, I would. It is great as
a reference guide to Michiru. I enjoyed what there was to offer, and
would reference it to others to use as well.
General Opinion: 17/20 The design is simple and elegant (appropriate
for Michiru), the navigation is great, and the content is well written.
Why did I knock of three points then? Because I think it still has some
levels to go upward as all sites do. I've thrown out some suggestions
on the top of my head to add some ideas I've never seen before, but do
keep this site moving in the direction it is going in. I'm definitely
interested in seeing more.
